AmerisourceBergen Named One of America’s Most Responsible Companies by Newsweek
Conshohocken, Pa. – AmerisourceBergen, a global healthcare company, has been named one of “America’s Most Responsible Companies” by Newsweek magazine. AmerisourceBergen ranked No. 41 overall on Newsweek’s 2022 list and sixth in the Health Care & Life Sciences category, with a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) score of 85.7 out of 100.
The annual
list recognizes the most responsible companies based, in part, on a detailed analysis
of publicly available data focused on company performance in the environmental,
social and governance (ESG) areas. AmerisourceBergen earned the recognition for
the second time and climbed 60 spots compared to its overall ranking on the
2020 list.
“As a
global healthcare company, we understand the opportunity we have to advance
initiatives that protect our planet and improve the wellbeing of people
worldwide. As part of our effort to foster positive change, we prioritize initiatives
and partnerships that help improve access and equity in healthcare, create more
resilient and sustainable operations across the supply chain, and inspire our
team members to achieve their potential,” said Gina Clark, EVP, Chief Communications
& Administration Officer at AmerisourceBergen. “We are honored to be recognized
by Newsweek for our continued progress and look forward to advancing our
strategy to create healthier futures for communities worldwide.”
Newsweek,
in partnership with Statista, began the four-phase process by selecting the
2,000 largest public companies spanning 14 industries. The organizations then examined
publicly disclosed data from CSR, Sustainability and Corporate Citizenship Reports
and conducted an independent online survey of 11,000 US citizens’ perceptions
of the companies’ CSR efforts. Each company was graded across Environmental,
Social and Corporate Governance dimensions, resulting in a final CSR score. AmerisourceBergen
achieved scores of more than 80 across all three categories, including 93.5
Corporate Governance score.
As
part of its commitment to enhance the way it is reporting on sustainability and
corporate responsibility efforts, AmerisourceBergen in February launched a
stakeholder driven Global Sustainability microsite. The microsite, which houses the 2020 ESG Reporting Index and supporting materials, serves as a
comprehensive, interactive resource to showcase data, information and relevant
assets from the company in connection with topics related to ESG. For more
